The Government Launches A New Scheme; Children To Receive Beneficiary Amount

Children, specially the small ones, are more inclined towards sweets and chocolates, than others. Thus, the chances of having cavities, is much higher in smaller children. You need to take care of your baby’s teeth as soon as they come out. Visiting a dentist at regular intervals, is one of the ways how you can take care of your children. The Australian government introduced the child dental benefits schedule (CDBS) which provides the cost of basic dental services for your eligible child for a time period of 2 years.

Eligibility The CDBS programme only covers the children who are found eligible. The Department of Human Resources declares a child eligible if they find the child aged between 2-17 years and if they receive a relevant Australian government payment such as Family Tax Benefit Part A or B, or if the child has a disability.

Treatments

A child eligible for the CDBS programme, will get $1000 for 2 years. Under CDBS, the treatments that are covered, are:
  • Examinations and X-rays
  • Cleaning and Fissure seating
  • Fillings and Extractions
  • Root canal treatment
  • Partial dentures
The child benefit dental schedule scheme says you can use up the money over the time period of 2 years for the above-mentioned treatments. The child may use up the whole amount within the first year, but if the fund persists, the child will be allowed to use the rest in the second year, if found eligible. A child having the advantage of this scheme, cannot share the money with any other family members; the scheme will be applied for him/her only. Any kind of amount that is left and is not used within the time period of 2 years will be permanently lost, whether the child is still eligible or not. As soon as the time period cease to exist, any kind of dental services will not be considered under the scheme and the treatment will be charged on a normal basis.
